Do We Value Truth?

Hey readers, today I am going to write about a topic that took me very long to write because I felt this is a trap, and whenever I was writing, I was contradicting myself. I have seen many people who say that,

“honesty is the best policy,”

“we should always be truthful to ourselves and others.”

We have been taught to be honest for ages, but the question is, do we value truth. If yes, then why is it so that when someone tells us the truth, we argue, fight, or sometimes even part ways from them.

Is it because it is not the truth we want to listen to, what is the truth is it what we want to hear, or is it what it is?

Once in my life, I thought as I am starting a new relationship with someone, it is better that I will be honest as it was a relation meant for life. To my surprise, that honesty led me nowhere, and after that, many people questioned my character.

At that point in my life, I questioned myself is honesty the best policy? The incidents which happened across my life, I have understood that it’s not the truth we value, but we value the version of the truth which we have already made in our mind.

Why do we tell our kids to be true to us when we are not ready to accept their truth? Why do we expect our partners to be true when we are not prepared to take their truth?

We all have our versions of truth in our minds! My kid is studious; my partner is loyal. I am the first love of my wife. Whenever these versions of truth fail, we tend to react to the absolute truth. This is where the problem starts!

Accept people, situations, and life the way it is. The first step when you hear the truth is to accept it. Don’t judge!

Acceptance is the key!

Do let me know your thoughts on, “Do we value truth?”
